League Basics:
Each team is required to have a designated team captain/manager responsible for having all team members sign the roster form, completing batting orders prior to games, and attending captains meetings.
- Kickballs will be provided by the LADIES KICK BALL TEAM OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA. Official kickballs will be 8.5" approved rubber playground balls with a pressure of 15 20 lbs/inch.
- Games will be officiated by a LADIES KICK BALL TEAM OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA umpire. The umpire governs all game play and issues all final rulings. Umpires have the rights over play and may: call a time out; call off a game due to inclement weather or other cause at the umpires discretion; penalize a player, including game ejection for un-sportsman like conduct.
- Games that are rained out will most likely be made up on the following Tuesday or Thursday.
- All Kickball games will be played on softball diamonds or on fields with similar dimensions to those found on softball diamonds.
- A regulation game shall consist of seven innings or 55 minutes, whichever comes first. If the time limit has elapsed and the inning in progress has been completed with the score remaining tied, the game will be declared a tie.
- Teams consist of eleven (11) players on the field. You may begin a game with as few as eight (8) players. Teams may also continue a game with a minimum of eight players after beginning with a greater number, however, the original batting order may not be altered and an "out" will occur each time a withdrawn player is scheduled to kick. If teams play with 10 players of less, they may choose to play without a catcher if desired.
- In the field, a minimum of four (4) players must be in the outfield and must remain at least 5 yards into the outfield grass before each pitch.
- The kicking order delivered to the umpire must be followed throughout the game, unless a player is replaced by a substitute. When this occurs, the substitute may take the place of the removed player in the kicking order. Teams which start a game with fewer than eleven (11) players may add additional players (from the team roster only) to the end of the kicking order. A starting player who has been substituted for may re-enter the game. Teams must kick the entire roster.
- If a team does not have enough players ready to start at the scheduled time they will be assessed a forfeit. A forfeit will result in loss of eligibility for the playoffs and a seriously disappointed opponent for that week's game! Teams that forfeit games for any reason (lack of players, "no shows", poor sport behavior, etc.) may be dropped from the league and replaced. Entry fees will not be refunded to teams dropped from the league due to forfeits.
- Games called prior to completion due to circumstances beyond our control may possibly be replayed. A LADIES KICK BALL TEAM OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA representative will make this decision.
- Games with a score differential of 10 or more runs after the 5th inning will be terminated. Games with a score differential of 15 or more runs after the 4th inning will also be terminated. Games with a score differential of 20+ runs will be terminated after 3 innings.
- League supervisors are instructed to speak with team managers only. All other players, as long as they are nice about it, however, can feel free to chat with the supervisors whenever they like. After all, LADIES KICK BALL TEAM OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA Kickball is a social thing at heart and all about having a good time! The Umpire may eject players who choose to ignore this rule. The umpire may forfeit the game if physically or verbally abused by any team member or spectator speaking in support of that particular team. If this happens in a kickball game, you really need to re-evaluate your priorities! Team managers are responsible for the conduct of all their players and fans. Players who get ejected from any game, for any reason, are automatically suspended from any further participation until a LADIES KICK BALL TEAM OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA representative reinstates them. This is kind of like the requirements in the small print you know... :)
- Metal spikes or hard molded plastic or polyurethane spikes similar to metal sole and heel plates are not allowed.
- Teams may wear the apparel of their choice. However, shoes, slacks/shorts and shirts must be worn at all times.
- Please report all injuries to the representative or umpire on-site. Basic first aid supplies are available.
Pitching and Kicking
- The ball must be pitched from behind the pitcher strip.
- No bouncies, the ball must be rolled on the ground.
- There is no walking in LADIES KICK BALL TEAM OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA Kickball! You can, however, strike out (2-strikes=out). A legal pitch must arrive below the knees of the kicker. Additionally, the strike zone extends out one foot on either side of home plate. This game is all about having a good time and letting everyone participate, so keep the nice and easy pitches coming! Once a player has two strikes on them, in any manner, they are deemed out and the next batter in the order is now up to kick.
- The ball may not be kicked until it crosses home plate.
A strike/foul ball is called if this infraction occurs and the play is dead at that point. The catcher must remain out of the way of the kicker until the ball is kicked and the kicker is on the way toward first base.
- Bunting is not allowed, so make sure to kick-away each time you get your chance at the plate. A kick perceived as a bunt by the umpire will be counted as a foul ball.
- The pitcher, as well as all fielders, must remain behind the pitching mound-extended until the ball is kicked.
- The pitcher has to stay behind the pitching strip until the ball is kicked.
- The catcher cannot cross home plate until after the ball is kicked.
Kickball Running
- No leading off base. No stealing. One base is awarded on an overthrow.
- Runners must stay within the base line. Runners hindered by another player who does not have the ball shall be safe at the next base.
- Hitting a runner with the ball above the shoulders is not allowed. Any runner hit above the shoulders is safe and advances one base unless the runner intentionally uses their head to block the ball then the runner is out.
- After a kicked ball is caught, the runner on base must first tag the original base before running.
- Base runners may NOT slide at any time. Sliding will result in the base runner being declared "out".
- In order to prevent injury and protect the defensive player attempting to make a play on a base runner, the base runner must be called out, if she/he remains on her/his feet, and deliberately, with great force crashes into a defensive player holding the ball, waiting to apply a tag. If the act is determined to be flagrant, the offender shall also be ejected. It is the responsibility of the base runner to avoid collision.
- Once the pitcher has the ball in control and on the mound, the play ends, runners cannot advance. Play officially ends when the umpire calls time.
Fouls and Outs
- A count of 3 foul balls constitutes an out. A foul is:
- A kick landing out of bounds
- A kick landing in bounds, but traveling out of bounds on its own at any time before reaching first or third base.
- A kickball kicked more than once in foul territory or stopped by the kicker in foul territory.
- Any kick perceived by the umpire as a bunt.
Outs
Three outs end half an inning.
An out occurs when:
- A player accumulates two strikes
- A kicked ball is caught
- A runner is touched with a ball at any time when they are not on a base (remember... you can hit a runner with the ball to get them out, as long as the ball touches them below the shoulders - No Headshots!)
- A runner is forced out at a base
